“The genisis for this album was a car - & a boy of course. Old Holdens have featured large in my life. I grew up in the suburbs where a man was only as good as the car he drove. This particular car was left on the street outside my home by a boy who walked out of my life. For 6 weeks it was a constant reminder that we’d both been dumped. One night after drowning my sorrows I took a can of gold paint & spray painted 'You Know I Really Loved That Boy' across the side of the car.” Mary Wyer |

Who the hell are we?Her Name In Lights play a unique style of moody, melodic pop-folk as heard on their debut album Into the Light Again. Lead singer/songwriter, Mary Wyer, previously of Even As We Speak (Sarah Records UK), brought the group together to record an album of songs she'd penned. Simon Holmes, ex-Hummingbirds, produced and played numerous instruments, Alison Gallaway, of Smudge, added percussive flair, Almond Cafarella completed the quartet and Her Name In Lights was born. Initially formed as a session band, Her Name In Lights loved the music they were making and starting gigging. The lovely Alison pulled out to concentrate on other projects and the irrepressible Simon Gibson, also of Modern Giant, took over in the drumming saddle. Laughing Outlaw Records also loved the album (there was a whole lot of love in the air) and added it to their label. Mary, Holmsie, Gibbo and Almond are writing a follow up album concentrating on melodic pop/folk infusion and multi-layered vocal harmonies. Into the Light Again is out now on Laughing Outlaw records.
